About Sing Out Loud

You, Too, Can Sing Out Loud:

Sing Out Loud, is a class for men and women of ALL ability levels.  We have groups in Chelmsford and Colchester, in Essex.  If you would like to sing with other people, using melody and harmony, then Sing Out Loud is for you!

There are NO auditions, and no need to read music, as we learn by ear.

Sing Out Loud is  a Community Singing Group.  It is NOT a choir, and we do not sing any choral or classical pieces.

We sing a wide variety of songs, and our repertoire has included: Folk, Jazz, Pop, Show Tunes, World Music, 1930s, 1960s, and Contemporary – so offering something for everyone.

The tutor/Musical Director, uses guitar for accompaniment, which gives flexibility, in teaching the melody and harmony parts.

At Sing Out Loud, you will find a friendly class, offering a warm welcome to newcomers.  Sing Out Loud gives an inclusive, encouraging, safe, friendly space in which to discover or re-discover your voice.  We believe “…if you can talk you can sing…”

Who The Class Is For:

This class is open to Men and Women of all levels of ability.  Whether you have sung before, or if you normally only sing in the bath or car, and have never used your voice in public, you will be warmly welcomed!  We encourage people of all abilities to sing together, and to enjoy discovering their own singing voice.

There are usually around three dozen members in the Chelmsford Sing Out Loud class, with ages ranging from twenties, all the way through to eighties.

Naturally, many members come from Chelmsford, however, others come from Braintree, Maldon, Hanningfield, Hatfield Peverel, Witham, and as far away as Billericay, Brentwood, and Romford, and other corners of Essex.

Naturally, many members in the Chelmsford group are local, however, others come from Braintree, Maldon, Hanningfield, Hatfield Peverel, Witham, and as far away as Billericay, Brentwood, and Romford.  A similar ‘catchment’ in terms of distance from the venue, is expected in Colchester.
