A few years ago a lady called Karen Hughes had a ‘light-bulb’ idea, of gathering a few ordinary folk together, to sing – just for the pure enjoyment of it!

Many of us have brilliant ideas, and do nothing about it.  But, Karen pursued her dream and with a little help from her friends, Sing-Out-Loud was born.  Almost six years on, the group is going from strength to strength, as we demonstrated to the audience last night at our Open Evening.

David (our ‘Friendly Despot’, ie Musical Director) started us off with some new songs, showing everyone how he pulls us together from a hesitant rabble to something quite harmonious in a short time!

We also sang some of our favourites with the audience joining in with the choruses.  Finally, we were treated to a fabulous half hour of songs from Amy Westney, a lively bubbly girl who sang with gusto and in one song, true pathos.  (She also took all the photos, is there no end to her talent??  Thank you, Amy!)

The three events in which Sing Out Loud have performed in the last couple of weeks have been so diverse, and very enjoyable for us all!

Thank you Karen and David for the experience, and Happy Birthday Mr.F.Despot!!!
