Social Mission Statement
Sing Out Loud is a local community singing group, which nurtures the joy of singing. As our social mission we offer men and women of any age, a friendly, welcoming, inclusive space, to sing with others. We also aim to help singers improve their health (where relevant), confidence and social life.
Singers of any ability, welcomed. We don’t audition, and singers needn’t be able to read music. Singers learn a wide variety of new and familiar songs, by ear.
To increase confidence, our local singing groups are kept small enough, so ‘everyone knows your name’. Singers at each venue have plenty of time to socialise, and foster friendships. Social opportunities are widened, by inter-group activities and performance events.
Today, the health benefits of singing are well known. Individual health needs are sensitively handled, within the groups, and at social events or performances, where necessary.
In practice, Sing Out Loud comprises real-life communities, of a wider ‘family’ of individuals. Their common interest is singing together. Members of early Sing Out Loud groups, were keen to help others, in an ever-evolving “Community in Action”. This is likely to happen in future groups, as they develop and gel.
